이 작업은 스위스 대사관 건물 내부에 대사관이 위치한 서울시 송월동 일대에서 사용되었던 과거의 사물들을 가져와 촬영한 작업이다. 스위스 대사관은 ‘스위스 한옥’이라는 프로젝트로 한국의 역사에 대한 존중과 함께 이질적인 두 문화와 더불어 과거와 현재라는 시간이 교차하는 곳이다. 그럼에도 이국적으로 다가온 대사관 건물의 내부는 스위스의 문화와 관념의 영향 속에서 현대식 가구와 장식품들이 정교하게 배치되었기때문이라고 생각했다. 그런 점에서 나는 재정비되어 사라져 버린 지금의 건물이 위치한 돈의문 일대의 과거 주민들의 생활 흔적들을 찾아 대사관 안으로 가져오고자 했다. 서울역사박물관의 아카이브 사진에서 수집한 한국 전통가옥의 사물들을 배경 판과 빔프로젝터를 이용해 대사관 건축물의 내부 공간에 투사하여 재구성된 실재 공간을 촬영하였다. 촬영 시 대사관 내부를 기록하는 촬영 노출시간과 빔프로젝터의 빛을 기록하는 투사 시간의 차이를 통해 사진 속 현재의 시공간에 과거의 사물들을 환영처럼 드러낸다. 과거와 현재가 교차하는 순간을 통해 콘트리트 벽으로 나눠지는 두 나라의 관념적 경계를 관통한다.

This work was taken with objects from the past used in Songwol-dong, Seoul, where the embassy is located inside the Swiss embassy building. The Swiss Embassy is a project called ‘Swiss Hanok’, where the time of past and present intersect with respect for Korean history and two different cultures. Nevertheless, I thought that the exotic interior of the embassy building was due to the elaborate arrangement of modern furniture and ornaments under the influence of Swiss culture and concept. In this regard, I tried to find traces of the lives of the past residents in the Donuimun area where the present building is located and bring them into the embassy. Objects of traditional Korean houses collected from archive photos of the Seoul Museum of History were projected onto the interior space of the embassy building using a background board and a beam projector to photograph the reconstructed real space. Through the difference between the exposure time, which records the inside of the embassy, and the projection time, which records the light of the beam projector, the objects of the past are revealed in the present time and space in the photograph as an illusion. Through the moment when the past and the present intersect, it penetrates the ideological boundary between the two countries divided by a concrete wall.
